The large Vietnamese conglomerate Thaco has officially announced plans to launch its own brand of passenger cars. This will make the company the second domestic passenger vehicle manufacturer in the country after VinFast.
In an address to employees, Thaco Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Ba Vuong noted that in June 2026 the company will introduce a minivan under its own Thaco brand, and in 2027 it will begin production of passenger cars (with up to nine seats).
Thaco has a serious base to implement its ambitious plan. The company operates a large automobile complex in the Tu Lai industrial zone (Quang Ngai province). The area of the complex exceeds 489 thousand square meters, and the design capacity is about 120 thousand cars per year.
Vietnam’s automobile market continues to grow, with total sales reaching 604,134 units in 2025, up 22.2% year-on-year.
Earlier it was reported that Daimler will present an electric bus, which has a power reserve 2.5 times greater than that of KamAZ.
