A running prototype of the new Lada model has been spotted

At first glance, the photo published in the Avtograd News community shows an ordinary Lada Vesta SW Cross station wagon. However, if you look closely, you will notice that it has flared wheel arches, five-bolt hubs, and the tire sidewalls have been worn down. From this, insiders concluded that the picture shows a test mule of the future crossover based on Vesta.

A “mule” – in other words, the body of an existing car, in this case it is the Vesta SW Cross – is used to test the units of a new model, namely a crossover based on Vesta.

This project is codenamed HGH. It is known about the crossover that it will have a wider track and increased ground clearance compared to the regular Vesta. AvtoVAZ will stretch the wheelbase of the original station wagon and switch to wheel fastenings with five bolts.

According to unofficial data, the model will be equipped with a combination of the 1.8 Evo engine and a Chinese six-speed manual transmission. It is also possible that a 150-horsepower modification with a CVT will appear.

In April, AvtoVAZ approved the design of the upcoming crossover: it will have an original body with signature X-shaped stampings on the sides, but less prominent than the current Vesta. It is expected that the list of equipment will include a panoramic roof and a light strip with a brake light repeater connecting the rear optics.

The design of the crossover based on the Lada Vesta and its name may be revealed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2025.
