The National Road Safety Department of the United States (NHTSA) agreed on the review of 171,412 Mazda cars. It applies to two models-3 and CX-30, reports Car and Driver. The reason was a malfunction due to which airbags may not work in case of an accident.

51,857 sedans and hatchbacks Mazda3 and 119 555 crossovers CX-30 2024 and 2025 of the model year were sold out for the review. All cars are still under warranty.

The problem was found in the block of airbags (Sophisticated Airbag Sensor, SAS). If the battery is completely discharged when the ignition is turned on, then an error will occur in the block. The recharge of the battery will not help: on the instrument panel, an indicator of a malfunction of the airbags will light up, and they will not be opened in the case of an accident. If the battery is discharged when the ignition is turned off, there will be no failure.
