As Autocar reports, the flagship electric car will receive not only a modified appearance, but also serious technical improvements – most notably, a new high-voltage battery.

The design of the i7 will be brought into line with the new “class” philosophy of the Neue Klasse brand, which has already been embodied in the iX3 and i3 models. However, unlike them, the updated sedan will look more restrained. The main change at the front is a simplified design with a squarer, beefier grille and wider daytime running lights.

The car will receive a new battery, which will increase the power reserve. For comparison: the current i7 in its longest-range version travels up to 623 thousand kilometers on a single charge.

Interestingly, BMW developed the new high-voltage system in collaboration with the Croatian company Rimac Technology. Rimac Group founder and president Mate Rimac promised “significant improvements in energy intensity, range and charging performance.”
