Sales of UMO 5 to private customers are planned to be carried out through Moskvich dealers, which immediately creates intense competition and complicates the prospects of the model. Alexander Kovalev, the creator of the external press service for the auto business “Mahanika”, told the analytical agency “Autostat” about this.

“The issue of UMO 5 competitors is very relevant now. The fact is that the main competitors of this model will be Moskvich 3e and Atom. The same Moskvich automobile plant is responsible for the production of both models. <...> Other competitors of UMO 5 are the small Evolute i-JOY and the Amberauto A5 sedan,” comments Alexander Kovalev.

According to him, UMO 5 is the most suitable option for a taxi among all the presented models: even its prototype GAC Aion Y Plus was originally created for corporate clients.

Alexander Kovalev notes that the potential sales volume of UMO 5 is difficult to estimate. The model will fit well into the Yandex Taxi projects in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but in regions with undeveloped infrastructure, demand is difficult to predict. The law on taxis could become an incentive for business, and in general, several thousand such cars could be sold in a year.

Production of UMO 5 started at the Moskvich plant in February 2026. The first electric vehicles have already been delivered to taxi companies, and official sales will begin in April. The price of the new product, taking into account government subsidies (925 thousand rubles), is from 2.5 million rubles.

Earlier it became known when new GAC cars will appear in Russia.
