Imports of BMW cars to Russia increased by 44%, amounting to 64 thousand cars, with a new waste collection for engines more powerful than 160 hp. could seriously slow down this growth in the future. The head of Avtostat, Sergei Tselikov, reported this on his Telegram channel.
According to the data, deliveries of new BMWs increased by 34% (up to 18 thousand units), and used ones – by 49% (up to 46 thousand units). About 40% of new cars were assembled in China, while among used cars the share of Chinese assembly does not exceed 10%. The bulk of BMWs, both new and used, are still made in Germany.
The main transit hubs for new cars were Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. Almost half (48%) of used BMWs came from South Korea. Among the new cars, crossovers lead the way: X3, X5, X1, X7 and X6. On the secondary market, the most popular model was the 5 Series, followed by the X5 and X3, the 3 Series and the X7.
Moreover, almost 99% of new and 80% of used BMWs imported in 2025 have a power of over 160 hp. This means that the new rules for calculating recycling fees, tied to capacity, will have a significant impact on the cost and volume of imports of the brand in the future.
