Marketers identify several main factors that make it difficult to sell used cars. Among them are an inexplicably inflated price, a low brand reputation, and unsuccessful combinations of main units.

In first place is the Citroen C4 sedan, its price is about 850 thousand rubles – this is 20% cheaper than the Kia Rio. The main problem is the unpopularity of the brand in Russia, which, for some unknown reason, has been assigned to French brands. But the key deterrent is the capricious petrol engines of the EP6 family. The 150-horsepower turbo engine is especially notorious, which before modernization often failed immediately after the warranty expired, said Sergei Zinoviev, an auto expert at Behind the Wheel.

The second place is occupied by the sixth generation Ford Fiesta – about 780 thousand rubles on the secondary market. The main problem is the PowerShift robotic gearbox (aka DPS6). This is a preselective “robot” with two dry clutches: it has to be changed almost as often as brake pads.

Next comes Lifan Solano. The average price is 580 thousand rubles. The Solano’s engines are really quite good (licensed Toyota ones with modifications), the interior is roomy, and the equipment is rich. But the body rots quickly, the suspension is “loose”, there are more minor breakdowns than the Zhiguli. In addition, the Lifan brand has ceased to exist, and spare parts are in short supply.

In fourth place is the Ravon Nexia R3 with an average price of 600 thousand rubles. The engine is not bad, but there are many questions about the build quality and components. The GM 6T30 automatic is not particularly reliable, and the bodies live differently: some have corrosion, others do not. The main reason for illiquidity is the unclear fate of the Ravon brand. Spare parts are difficult to find, and there is little trust in the car.

In fifth place is the Volkswagen Jetta. The average price is 1.38 million rubles. The car itself is not bad, especially the version with a naturally aspirated 1.6 engine and a classic Aisin automatic transmission. And modifications with a 1.4 turbo engine and a “robot” may remain on sale for a long time. At the same time, sellers are in no hurry to reduce the price, hoping for a buyer who will decide that 125 horsepower is better than 110. Although later versions of turbo engines have become more reliable (timing belt instead of chain), their maintenance is more expensive, and this is a deterrent.
