The owner of the car may be deprived of his driver’s license if the replacement driver called for driving is himself under the influence of any substance: alcohol, drugs or medications prohibited for drivers. Automotive lawyer Lev Voropaev told Motor magazine about this.
“If a citizen in a state of intoxication sat down and drove a car in which the owner was, this clearly confirms the fact that the owner of the car transferred the right to drive to him. In this case, the owner of the vehicle faces punishment,” the lawyer said.
According to him, according to Part 2 of Art. 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, for transferring the right to drive a car to a substitute driver who was under the influence of any substance, the owner of the car can be fined 45 thousand rubles or deprived of his driver’s license for a period of one and a half to two years.
