AvtoVAZ plans for 2025 revealed

A large AvtoVAZ press conference was held in Moscow, during which the head of the Russian auto giant, Maxim Sokolov, spoke about the results of work in 2024 and shared plans for 2025. The company ended last year in the black: production volumes increased by 40 percent, sales by 30 percent, and export volumes quadrupled. In 2025, AvtoVAZ is preparing 12 new products – both full-fledged and in the form of updates to existing models.

At the end of 2024, AvtoVAZ sold 525,525 cars, exceeding the plan approved by the board of directors. This is 30 percent more than the 2023 result. On average, the brand sold 40 thousand cars per month. Export volumes also increased – more than 21 thousand Lada cars were sent abroad to 20 countries, including the UAE, Iran, Cuba and Lebanon. The list of new markets for the brand also includes Vietnam, Yemen and Serbia.

In the past year, AvtoVAZ was able to achieve technological sovereignty – this was one of the main tasks set for the automaker after the departure of its French partner, the Renault group, from Russia.

As for sales by model, Lada Granta finished 2024 in first place in the ranking of the most popular models in the country. The Russians bought 205,622 Grants. The share of state employees in total sales is 12 percent. Lada Vesta sold 123,456 units, its share was 7.3 percent. The sedan accounts for almost 70 percent of sales, and the remaining 20 percent comes from the station wagon and its Cross version. The Niva family set a record: 100,852 cars sold, Niva Travel and Niva Legend 50 thousand each. Finally, Largus, which resumed production in May, was purchased by 22,192 people.

By the end of this month, production of cars with a six-speed manual transmission will begin – the launch is scheduled for January 27. In addition, as Motor found out, during 2025 AvtoVAZ will continue to develop its line of commercial vehicles, and, according to Sokolov, they will be sold under a new brand.

In the longer term, at the turn of 2025 – 2026, AvtoVAZ will begin production of a completely new model – a crossover on the Vesta platform. The new product will receive a combination of a 1.8 Evo engine with a capacity of 122 horsepower and a Chinese six-speed manual transmission. The development of the model is at its final stage.

In total, by the end of 2025, 12 new Lada products will enter the Russian market, mostly new versions of existing models. But most of all they are waiting for the new Iskra family of budget cars, which will include a sedan and a station wagon.

In 2027, AvtoVAZ will launch a minivan on the market. According to Sokolov, the amount of funding for this project is 20 billion rubles, and it “already has real features.” “This model will be launched in Togliatti in 2027, and this date seems quite realistic to us,” said the head of AvtoVAZ. “The entire team is doing everything possible to put this car on the assembly line within a short time frame for the global automotive industry.”
