The plant in Togliatti and other enterprises owned by the domestic auto giant returned to work on January 13 after the holidays. This was reported by the AvtoVAZ press service. AvtoVAZ used the production pause during the holidays to modernize its facilities: in particular, the main plant was preparing for the start of serial production of the Lada Iskra.
“Car assembly and component production have begun on all lines of all company plants,” said the AvtoVAZ press service.
The conveyors, as planned, were idle from December 29, 2024 to January 12, 2025 inclusive. The pause was used to carry out “more than nine thousand works”: repairing equipment, improving working conditions and, most importantly, preparing for the release of new models. Among them is the Lada Iskra, a new budget car that will go into production in the spring of 2025. The work was carried out in the welding, painting and assembly shops.

In addition, AvtoVAZ has improved its engine production lines to produce a new 1.8 engine for the Lada Niva. Chassis production and metallurgical production were also modernized.
Earlier it became known that the life cycle of the Lada Iskra will be eight years. This is unusual, given that all current models are older, and some are even considered long-lived by world standards. In addition, “Iskra” in the latest presentation of the plant is indicated as a replacement for XRay and the initial versions of Vesta, although previously it was called the successor to Granta.
