In an interview with Rossiya 24, the head of the auto giant, Maxim Sokolov, announced plans to launch partnership projects in Iran. The head of AvtoVAZ called the Islamic Republic “the largest and most promising market” and made it clear: the annual sales volumes of new cars in Iran will allow Lada to feel confident. The capacity of the passenger car market in Iran is about one million units per year.
Maxim Sokolov said that this year AvtoVAZ launched production in one of the neighboring countries, but due to sanctions risks, he refrained from specifics. The top manager confirmed that export deliveries by the end of 2024 will amount to about 20 thousand cars, and in 2025 the volumes will increase by one and a half times – to the level at which AvtoVAZ has been for the last 10-15 years.
An advertising brochure for Lada with a local fashion model was shown in Iran. The Lada website in the Emirates was turned off after publications in the media. AvtoVAZ commented on the transition of the Lada Granta to headlights from India.
The head of Lada noted that during the USSR, export sales volumes were almost an order of magnitude higher. A month ago, the top manager named the Republic of Belarus as the main export destination for AvtoVAZ. As for Iran, this country certifies Vesta and Vesta SW Cross in top trim levels with a 1.8 engine and a CVT; The advertising campaign has already begun.
At the end of October, the first Lada car showroom opened in Tajikistan, and a project to assemble AvtoVAZ products in Ethiopia is also under development. The Russian automaker will also enter the market of the United Arab Emirates, but the official website lada.uae is not yet available.
