On May 16, Frolovo was sunny, and in the morning a revival reigned on Bivouac. Traditional technical inspections and administrative inspections are what any competition begins for participants. And by hour the main procedures were completed, and the athletes prepared for the ceremony of the grand opening.
At 16:20 there was a solemn start to the competition, and the participants cheerfully rushed off to the passage of a special stages, which was located nearby. The organizers specially left the main spectacular points near the start so that the audience, journalists and photographers could see all the interesting driveways and jumping of cars. A 20 with a small kilometer’s special strap was very twisted and high -speed, but all the athletes successfully got to the finish line.

“We drove a prologue: a short but difficult stage with a length of 22 kilometers,” said the navigator of the GAZ team Raid Sport Evgeny Pavlov – the track was three -dimensional, with constant climbs and descents. For safety tomorrow, the cargo test will start in front of the main peloton of the race. This is due to the fact that the “wagons” now drive very quickly and approach the speed of the KAMAZ. So that they do not interfere with large cars, such a decision was made. The consequences of such a start – after trucks, the roads turn into sand ruts. Today we felt it, and tomorrow it will become even more tangible. Our cars are greatly beaten by protection when moving along these ruts. Therefore, it is important not to “get stuck” in them, sometimes you have to specially go aside. In general, tomorrow it will be difficult.
The five leaders closed another crew of Kamaz-master under the piloting of Eduard Nikolaev.

“Archeda is a unique race,” the pilot Alexander Semenov shared his impressions “compared to Astrakhan, it is more complicated by the fact that the running sands can be up to 20-25 kilometers. The car is always very difficult here. The engine works very intensively, and there is a large load on it. In principle, there is a real race of engines and drives. Archeda is always a heavy race!
The third in the Raid-Sport category came to the finish line Mikhail Mityaev from Lada Sport Raid. In the T2 category, Andrei Syushentsov and Alexander Dzhanov are still in the leaders, but Andrei Gorkov and Leonid Petrov are pushing behind, and temporary breaks after the prologue for the crews are minimal.

Trucks GAZ Raid Sport confidently got to the finish line, looking at the highway and adapting to the race. Pilots cherish forces on long special stages of the next days. In the evening, a ceremony of choosing starting positions was held at the headquarters of the race. And not one, but two at once: the choice of starting positions was carried out separately for automobile and cargo offset. Given the fact that only 24 crews take part in the race, a few pilots were excluded from the ceremony.
