From January to March, one of the largest Chinese automakers managed to sell 416,388 electric cars, which is almost 40 percent more than a year ago. Sales of hybrids amounted to 569,710 units – by 76 percent more than the result of the first quarter of 2024. In March alone, BYD put an electric car abroad, increasing export by 111 percent.
The share of PHEV cars in the BYD sales structure for a year increased from 51.9 percent to 57.8. Electric cars, respectively, are inferior: their share decreased from 48.1 to 42.2 percent.
According to analysts, this year BYD will set the next record and sell 5.5 million cars around the world. The result of last year is 4.3 million, 2023-three million.

In March only in 2025, BYD sold 377,420 cars, of which 371,419-cars. Production is a little ahead of sales: 395 091 cars came off the conveyors, which is a third more than a year ago. 72,723 cars went to export in March-growth is almost half since March 2024 and 8.5 percent since February 2025.
Other auto companies are also noted in the growth of interest in hybrids. For example, Toyota, which can hardly cope with high demand. Buyers in key markets complain that they have to wait for the ordered cars for months – including in China, where last year only hybrids were “in the plus” for sales.
