Chery and KGM agreed to jointly develop cars

South Korean KGM, previously named Ssangyong, last year [заключила](https://motor.ru/news/chery-kgm-togeter-27-10-2024.htm) Strategic partnership with Chinese CHERI. Now the companies have become a step closer to specific actions – namely, the joint development of machines. According to the new agreement, they will take up the creation of medium and full-sized crossovers on the Chery platform.

Cars from KGM and Chery will be the global platform of the Chinese company, on which it will be possible to build both cars with an internal combustion engine and models with varying degrees of electrification. The development of the first car is planned to be completed in 2026.

The agreement signed in the fall of last year is aimed at developing the ideas of “intellectual mobility” and the integration of the resources of two companies.

Ex-Ssangyong completely declassified the MUSSO EV pickup. How much does it cost Chery to get rid of one of the brands: he can already order Cherizo 8 Pro, which is waiting in Russia for less than two years in China.

The benefit of KGM is access to CHECH technologies, and the KGM assembly plant in Seoul may come in handy, with the help of which you can bypass barrage duties. This will allow export to large, but now closed markets – in the USA, Europe and Turkey, which set tariffs for the import of Chinese products.

In Russia, KGM cars started in mid -March. The line included four models at once – Tivoli, Korando, Torres and Rexton, which are sold with the manufacturer’s guarantee. The first three are equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 163 horsepower, and the flagship SUV REXTON is offered with a 2.0-liter engine for 225 horsepower.

Where is the cool tuning of the “Chinese”?
