Chery will get rid of one of the brands: he is less than two years old

Chinese journalists have found that ICAR independent brand is waiting for rebranding: crossovers will go under the maternal brand. The mention of ICAR will remain, but now in the rank of a series, not a separate brand. It is expected that the new ICAR V25 will go on sale as Chery, and already manufactured models 03, 03T and V23 will be renamed. The coming transformation in the press services of both brands did not comment.

Insiders argue that ICAR reorganization has become inevitable after the resignation of the General Director of the brand. However, not only signs will change: now the ICAR V23 is available on the same line from 03/03T at the Chery New Energy factory, and in the first half of the 2025th the model will “move” to a new site in the special economic zone of Sanshan.

Recall that the ICAR brand debuted in April 2023, and Chery considered the new brand youth. However, in comparison with other subbrands, the sales were lower than the expectations: from December 2023 to February 2025, less than 63 thousand cars were sold in the Chinese market. The peak of monthly sales (5600 units) was reached in October 2024, and even a flash of interest in the new I23 model did not allow setting new records.

In 2025, ICAR sales fell up to a thousand units per month, which caused the reorganization. However, in Russia, the CHERI trend did not reach simplification: we are preparing for the debut of the new brands Jelend, Votour and Tenet. They are also in no hurry to get rid of the “old” subbrands in our country.
