Chinese Byd got into the ten best -selling foreign cars in Japan

In May, auto giant managed to sell 416 new electric vehicles among the neighbors. This result was enough to get into the top ten importers of cars: Byd was ahead of Peugeot (382 pieces) and Land Rover (401), but did not reach Jeep (595). The leaders among foreign cars in Japan Mercedes-Benz (4089), BMW (2619), Volkswagen (2462), but they sell fuel models.

The best -selling BYD model is Sealion 7: it found 240 customers in a month, and the majority (79%) preferred the basic configuration of an electric car with rear -wheel drive for 4.95 million yen (34 thousand dollars). The BYD branch stated that the demand has exceeded expectations, and the Japanese buy Chinese cars more willingly than expected. Therefore, the gamma awaits expansion from four to six models by the beginning of 2026.

Of course, monthly sales in the region of 400 cars are not yet threatened by the dominance of Japanese brands, but in the category of BYD electric vehicles is already ahead of Toyota. In addition, the Chinese auto giant is now selling in the Land of the Rising Sun cars for the domestic market with adaptation to the right steering wheel, but on the way a unique development is specifically for Japan-the first imported cam car.

Local manufacturers are no longer enough for the Chinese car market, so BYD invests in the largest fleet, the development of electric vehicles and hybrids in Europe and even in America. However, the Chinese authorities restrain the expansion and do not want the technology to get the US geopolitical rival.
