The former American Caterpillar plant in the city of Tosno, Leningrad Region, is preparing to restart. This follows from the annual financial report of Tosno LLC, which was reviewed by the Delovoy Petersburg publication.

Tosno LLC (owns the plant) began cooperation with the Chinese group Lovol. The latter produces tractors, excavators, loaders, mining dump trucks and other equipment.

The former Caterpillar plant has been operating since 2000, producing excavators, mining dump trucks, and electric generator sets under the American brand.

In 2022, the company suspended operations due to sanctions, and in 2023-2024 the assets were transferred to a Russian investor.

Earlier it became known that Caterpillar will release a pickup truck. The authors of the project based the new product on the heavy Ford F‑450 Super Duty, equipped with a V8 Power Stroke diesel engine.
