The American publication Consumer Reports has published its annual ranking of the best new cars in the crossover and SUV segment. All five winning models represent the Japanese and European auto industry.

The only three-row crossover on the list is the Toyota Grand Highlander. The model, introduced in 2024, became Toyota’s second best-selling vehicle in the United States after the RAV4. In the American market, the car is offered with a 2.4 turbo engine producing 265 hp. and a hybrid power plant. Its maximum power in the Hybrid Max version is 362 hp.
In the premium segment, the Lexus NX received high marks for handling and reliability. Its hybrid version is ranked first in its market segment. The German BMW X5, as the publication notes, “remains one of the best luxury SUVs they have ever tested.” The gasoline version with a 3.0 inline turbo six (375 hp) scored the highest score in its class.
