A key feature of the updated Mercedes‑Benz eCitaro is the fourth generation of lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries, which replace the current NMC3 technology.

Thanks to an optimized cell composition, the energy density of the new NMC4 battery has increased by almost 13%. Now one standard battery module with the same dimensions stores not 98, but 111 kWh of energy. This significantly increases the range of the Mercedes‑Benz eCitaro bus without recharging.

In the maximum configuration, the power reserve reaches 600 km for a regular bus and 450 km for an accordion. For example, the most popular Russian electric bus, KamAZ-6282, has a range of 230 km.

Daimler Buses provides a 10-year warranty on new NMC4 batteries, which can be extended to 15 years by individual agreement.
