The Vedomosti newspaper reports that the ban on direct online sales is proposed to be introduced into the prepared national plan for the development of competition for 2026−2030. This is stated in a letter signed by the President of the Association “Russian Auto -Dealers” (Road) Alexei Podchekoldin addressed to the head of the FAS Maxim Shaskolsky of May 29.
In the current version, the national plan provides for the development of direct online sale from manufacturers and distributors in the amount of at least five percent of the total implementation by the end of 2026. Road, on the other hand, advocates to completely prohibit the use of such a scheme, explaining this by the need to “protect consumers and maintain competition in the authoritative.” Sellers believe that sales of cars bypassing intermediaries “can lead to infringement of the rights and interests of dealers” and “imposing obviously unfavorable conditions for cooperation”.
