Driving licenses expiring in 2025 will be automatically extended for another three years. This will allow drivers to avoid bureaucratic procedures and additional costs. The innovation will affect both individuals who use transport for personal purposes and those who use it for work and business.
According to Russian Government Decree No. 2269 of December 23, 2023, drivers will not need to make changes to their existing licenses or obtain new ones. Current licenses will be considered valid until 2028. However, if for some reason the driver wants to update the document, he can contact the traffic police for a replacement. The initiative to extend the validity of driver’s licenses came from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development. The main goal of the innovation is to reduce the administrative burden on citizens and business representatives.
