The Gislaved brand Russian drivers appreciated in the nineties. The reputation of the manufacturer of high -class winter tires helps it today. However, this time we will talk about the summer model. We assume that this is one of the best summer tires in the official Russian market, and not only among Russian -made models. But how did she appear?
That’s right, the Gislaved brand is known primarily by winter models. Today in Russia four Gislaved winter lines are produced and sold for cars (not counting one for small commercial transport). We talked about them in a separate material.
Now let’s imagine the summer. But first, we recall the main thing about the brand itself. In Russia, the name “Gislavweba”, and not the original Swedish “Yislavve”, was officially entrenched. This is the name of the city, where the GISLOUS brothers founded their rubber production back in 1893. The first car tires were produced in 1905, which makes Gislaved one of the oldest manufacturers in the world. And already in 1927, he became the supplier of the Volvo conveyor.

We can say that Gislaved is such a Swedish analogue of Nokian Tyres with a comparable authority in terms of winter tires. However, the company did not become an independent tire giant: in 1992, it became part of the German concern Continental AG. Gislaved today can be called a regional brand, but not in the sense of something town: it works in the markets of Western Europe and Scandinavia.

In Russia, the new Gislaved career as a brand began after leaving our Continental market. Production continues as part of the Cordiant tire holding, which now owns the former Bridgestone plant in Ulyanovsk and Continental in Kaluga. The latter produces the tires of the German models known to us, but under the Swedish brand Gislaved, to which Cordiant has relevant rights.
