The National District Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that due to a defect in the gearbox, it would be necessary to withdraw a large batch of coupe, convertibles and sedans General Motors. At the risk group of 50 thousand Chevrolet Camaro 2020-2022, as well as about 40 thousand Cadillac CT4, CT5 and CT6 2019-2022: all machines have a problematic 10-speed automatic.

It is curious that the official message of the NHTSA indicates: during movement, the front wheels can occur, although all the cars from the risk group with the base rear -wheel drive. The matter is in the transmission control valve: it can be worn out, the pressure will fall, so the programs will begin to switch with jerks, and at some point the wheels will be blocked.

A great mistake or unrecognized genius: the story of Cadillac Cimarron as a big Cadillac CT5 turned into Driver’s Car the seven unsuccessful models in the history of Cadillac

115 cases of blocking of the wheels were recorded, one of the customers had an accident. General Motors has long known about the problem, but initially the position of the auto giant was that the defect is too insignificant to cause loss of control over the vehicle. However, the real incident was still forced to hold a response campaign. The dealers reprogram the gearbox control module so that the electronics recognize excess valve wear 16 thousand kilometers before the start of locks.

After the firmware, the car itself recognizes the problem, the Check Engine will light up, the power will be limited, and the gearbox will begin to use only the first five speeds to get to the service. Interestingly, even such a compromise solution is available only for Cadillac CT4, CT5 and some CT6. How they will repair Chevrolet Camaro has not yet been reported.
