According to Gazeta.Ru with reference to a certain “informed source”, the South Korean company will direct assembly components through China and Kazakhstan. Thus, the connection between the supplier – the Hyundai itself – and the final destination in Russia will be difficult to trace, experts say.
Machine complexes for the production of cars will be supplied through a subsidiary of Hyundai in China, the source says. From there they will go to the Kazakhstan EAEU, where the customs clearance is simplified, and after that to Russia.
Thus, Hyundai will kill two birds with one stone: expand the functionality of its not too successful Chinese unit and will establish contact with the Russian Federation bypassing sanctions.
