Footage has surfaced on Reddit that appears to be taken from a video presentation of the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid. In them, Subaru (it is unknown whether by chance) showed a Forester with the Wilderness prefix without any disguise. And although the images are of low quality, the differences from the standard “Forester” are clearly visible.
The “sixth” Subaru Forester in the Wilderness version will receive a different front bumper with a large silver protection at the bottom and an abundance of black plastic. A similar “growth” of plastic is visible at the rear, and the black trim around the perimeter appears to be the same as that of a regular crossover.
Also, the “wild” Forester will receive a traditional suspension with a lift and new wheels. The outgoing Forester Wilderness has ground clearance of 234 millimeters—about the same as the new model.

Under the hood of the “fifth” Forester is a 2.5-liter boxer engine producing 185 horsepower (238 Nm of torque). However, the latest version may get a hybrid powertrain: Subaru recently promised to add it to the Forester range in the middle of the year. This will be a system from Crosstrek with a 2.5 unit and two electric motors – a generator and a traction motor.
