A number of concerns from the United States are considering the possibility of transferring part of production to China, writes The Wall Street Journal, without calling specific companies. The case is in rare -earth metals, which are no longer supplied from the PRC – without them the production of engines for electric cars will stand. At the same time, it is still allowed to export finished motors from China.
Insiders report that the reserves of rare -earth metals (RES) are enough American concerns for only a few weeks. Magnets for electric motors are made from the alloys of RMZ: such magnets work both at high temperatures and electric cars due to them can develop high speeds.
According to WSJ, China accounts for about 90 percent of world supplies of rare -earth metals. Due to the trade war with the United States, the Chinese decided to suspend part of the export of both RMZ and magnets from their alloys. At the same time, it is still possible to export finished products, so Americans can establish the production of electric motors in the PRC.
