The State Duma adopted a bill in the second reading, which increases the penalty for the driver’s refusal to stop at the request of the police. It is proposed to punish for this in the amount of 7 to 10 thousand rubles, TASS reports. Thus, the basic fine will increase by 14 times, and the maximum – by 12.5 times.

The bill on the increase in the fine provided for in paragraph 2 of Article 12.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses was submitted to the Lower Chamber in February 2024. In the first reading, it was adopted in September, and now the second has passed.

Now for the refusal to stop at the request of a policeman, customs officer or other person who exercises control in the field of transport is fined by 500-800 rubles. The bill will establish a sanction in the amount of 7 to 10 thousand.

For repeated violations, it is proposed to be punished by deprivation of the rights of car control for up to six months or another fine of 10 thousand.

In addition, the project complements Article 12.21.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses regarding the rules of movement of large -sized vehicles. So, a punishment is introduced for failure to comply with the requirements for passing weight and overall control. The owner is offered to fine 600 thousand rubles, although previously it was about 100 thousand.

For the second reading, a document is prepared that will increase fines for car owners and motorcycles with a loud exhaust. The minimum penalty will be five thousand rubles, and the owners of cars with powerful engines will have to fork out up to 30 thousand. The current fine of 500 rubles is ineffective, the authors of the project say.
