In total, 127.8 thousand Japanese brand cars were imported into our country in 2025 – both new and used. The largest number of Toyota cars arrived in Russia used. Right-hand drive cars accounted for 5% of new and 83% of used Toyotas.
Half of the new Toyotas imported into the Russian Federation were imported in transit through Kyrgyzstan due to more favorable customs clearance; a third of the cars came from China. More than 70% of used Toyotas were imported into the Russian Federation directly from Japan, Sergei Tselikov, general director of the analytical agency Autostat, said in his Telegram channel.
“New Toyota cars (up to 3 years old) accounted for only a quarter of the total import volume (30.3 thousand units). But the dynamics here are higher (+40%). The rest of the imported Toyota cars are used (over 3 years old). The import volume for the year is 97.5 thousand pieces, and the dynamics compared to the previous year is +6%,” he wrote.
The most popular Toyota model among Russians among new cars was the RAV4 crossover. It is followed by the Highlander, the Camry sedan, as well as the Corolla and Land Cruiser Prado. The leader among used cars was Toyota Corolla.
