They are 18 times less likely than men to receive sentences for crimes on the roads. This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel.
“In 2024, 51,527 drivers were convicted in Russia for crimes against road traffic regulations. Almost 95% of them (48,754) are men. The remaining five and a half percent are women (2,773). According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, women are less likely to be involved in road accidents with serious consequences, because they are less prone to risky driving, sudden maneuvers and speeding,” the publication says.
The National Automobile Union (NAU) proposed introducing a reduction factor of 0.8 for women when calculating compulsory motor liability insurance. According to the president of the organization, Anton Shaparin, this will make insurance more accessible, attract more women to the profession and ultimately reduce the accident rate.
According to US, insurance companies have the resources to provide such benefits: last year they paid clients 27 billion rubles less than required by law.
Earlier it became known what bothers women the most about owning a car.
