A car without a driver was found in a swamp near the intersection of two highways in Oregon. Local firefighters brought in a qualified diver to remove the sports car from the water.
The bright red car was partially underwater and easy to spot. Emergency services personnel who arrived at the scene found from tire tracks that the Corvette had driven into the pond in reverse. It was not possible to find out whether the driver did this intentionally or accidentally.
Also during the inspection of the scene, traces were found that someone had gotten out of the cabin through the open passenger window. The front bumper of the sports car was also cracked.
If the sports car engine continued to run in water, it is very likely that it received a water hammer and failed. The reasons why the unknown driver abandoned the car are not reported. Social media users suggested that the incident could be related to insurance fraud, or that the driver of the rented Corvette lost control.
The eighth generation Chevrolet Corvette has been produced by General Motors since 2019.
Previously, Bugatti presented a dedication car to the mastermind and curator of the Veyron project.
