As part of its return to the market, Infiniti may release a 600-horsepower version of the QX80 Red Sport, and then introduce an even more powerful modification. Carscoops reports this.
In the luxury SUV segment, high performance performance is becoming not just an option, but part of the brand image. In modern realities, flagship models must combine comfort with the ability to compete with sports cars in acceleration. It is this niche that Infiniti apparently intends to occupy with the QX80 Red Sport version.
In 2025, Infiniti showed the QX80 Track Spec concept, and then at the SEMA show – the R-Spec version with the engine from the GT-R. The idea of combining a huge SUV and a race track seems dubious from a physics point of view, but the 650-horsepower Track Spec still attracted everyone’s attention.
The public reaction was so impressive that Infiniti decided to launch a version with a capacity of about 600 horsepower. For a three-row luxury SUV, this is a serious indicator, but, according to sources, only the first step. By 2028, the company plans to introduce an even more extreme modification – approximately 680 hp. Infiniti is counting on a massive performance-focused advertising campaign to attract new customers. According to the source, it will start with the Red Sport model. Previously, this index was used only for sports sedans and coupes, but now it will appear on the QX80 – a signal of Infiniti’s intention to compete with BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.
Among the key external differences of the Red Sport version are massive red brakes, the signature “S” emblem and optional 24-inch wheels. The cost of such a modification is estimated to be at least 10% higher than the base one. However, the main feature of the model is the uprated engine, developing 600 horsepower (447 kW).
Earlier it was reported that Chinese used cars in Russia set a new price record.
