Avtostat clearly showed how the structure of transport changed. Since 2005, the number of vehicles has doubled (from 24.2 to 47.5 million pieces), the provision has increased from 167 to 323 cars per 1000 inhabitants. The fleet of 20 years has grown strongly: the share of cars to five years was halved (up to 10%), the share of cars over ten years old increased 1.5 times (up to 73%).

In 2005, more than half of the fleet were LADA cars. And taking into account the products of gas, UAZ, ZAZ, and Oka, more than 75% of the fleet was in former Soviet brands! Today the picture is different: the share of Russian brands is about a third, and foreign cars dominate and make up 67.4% of the fleet. Toyota remains an unconditional leader in this category, which has doubled a share in two decades.

With the car market, the alignment is not so unambiguous. The number of new machines sold over twenty years increased by 22% from 1.29 to 1.57 million pieces. In 2004, 59% of Russian motorists bought LADA or a small -leafing OKO developed by AvtoVAZ. About 9% of the market was occupied by other Russian brands: gas, IZH and UAZ. Today, the realities are different: 58% of the market is occupied by the “Chinese”, and taking into account localized models (“Moskvich”), the share increases to 65%.
