In an interview with the corporate publication Vesti KamAZ, the general director of the plant Sergei Kogogin said that the state defense order remains a strategic priority. The top manager emphasized that now KamAZ is going on with a significant advice of the schedule. The production of army equipment of the K3 line turned out to be a real challenge for the team, since the old machines could not provide a normal pace of work.
The head of KAMAZ made it clear that despite the sanctions, the scientific and technical center of the auto giant had to “turn around to the needs of the Ministry of Defense”: in a few months an armored cab and armored car went into the series. Nevertheless, they did not forget about the main product at the factory: by the first quarter of 2024, the flagship tractors K5 accepted the species that customers are accustomed to.

In 2025, they plan to expand the K5 line on KAMAZ. Sergey Kogogin admitted that the most important task is to release heavy all -wheel drive cars. The KAMAZ believes that they should take a niche, where Volvo and Man previously dominated. However, the production plan is still small: there are only 360 copies of tractors with a wheel formula of 6×6 and the K5 cabin this year.
Partly modest forecasts are associated with overstocking: according to Sergei Kogogin, this year you can not produce trucks at all, since the capacity of the Russian truck market will be 60-65 thousand pieces, and all these cars are on effluents with dealers and leasing companies.
