At the capacities of the “Automobile Plant St. Petersburg” (ex-platform of Nissan), the serial production of LADA ISKRA, the novelties of AvtoVAZ, the market debut of which took place in July, launched. So far, only the “sparks” of the Togliatti assembly were on sale, and now the cars made in St. Petersburg have begun to ship the dealer network. According to the AvtoVAZ press service, they are indistinguishable from ISKRA from the main conveyor.
An agreement on the organization of ISKRA production in St. Petersburg was signed in mid-June to the PMEF. Since then, the plant managed to reconfigure equipment, establish logistics and train staff. Over the summer, 200 sets were shipped from Togliatti for processing processes and training workers, and in September, serial sets began to arrive at the plant.

They include a motor, parts of the salon, chassis and other details – only 1000 positions that remains to be brought together. The factory workers install sound insulation, seat belts, ESP, carry out engine and front suspension, mount bumpers, wheels and so on.

Lada ISKRA, which occupied a niche between Granta and Vesta in the line of the brand, is equipped with 1.6-liter engines: eight-valve capacity of 90 horsepower and 16-valve for 106 forces. The gearboxes are a five -speed and six -speed manual transmission and a variator. In the future, “Iscre” promises to add a 1.6 unit forced up to 120 forces.
