According to Auto Express, the model will become a more compact and affordable alternative to the standard Defender, while maintaining its recognizable brutal style and off-road character. It is expected that the new product will replace the aging Discovery Sport on the production line.

Defender Sport will be similar in appearance to its “big brother”, but with some differences. The new product will receive thinner headlights, a sloping front end to improve aerodynamics and characteristic black lining on the bumpers and wheel arches. Buyers will also be offered extensive customization options.

The new product is based on the new modular platform EMA (Electric Modular Architecture). The wheelbase will be long relative to the entire body. The trunk door, as befits a real SUV, will be hinged.

Inside there will be a large display with a new interface, which in the future will be uniform for all JLR models. There will be 5 seats (there are no plans for a 7-seat version), but a sixth folding seat between the driver and front passenger is possible.

The key feature is that the EMA platform was originally designed only for electric vehicles. Defender Sport will not have any hybrid or petrol versions.

Prices for the new Land Rover Defender Sport will start from £40 thousand – £50 thousand (approximately 4.7 – 5.9 million rubles at the current exchange rate), which is noticeably cheaper than the basic versions of the large Defender. However, given the brand’s pricing policy, top modifications will be significantly more expensive.

Previously, two Jeland crossovers were certified in Russia.
