The ancient British brand is now owned by the SAIC concern, and under its wing, MG became the first Chinese brand whose sales in the European Union and Great Britain exceeded a million cars.
“In 2025, MG sold more than 300,000 vehicles in the European and British markets (of which more than 85,000 were sold in the UK), up almost 30% year-on-year, and retained its position as the leading Chinese car brand in Europe for the 11th year in a row,” notes CarNewsChina.
Back in 2021, MG crossed the 50 thousand car mark in Europe, in 2022 it hit the hundred thousand mark in a year for the first time, and in 2023 it has already sold 200 thousand cars. At the same time, in the first half of 2025, MG surpassed the Tesla brand in sales in Europe: according to data from the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers ACEA, MG’s result during this period was 153 thousand cars versus 136 thousand cars from Tesla.
Chinese cars under the historic British brand MG, which was founded in 1924, sell well in the UK itself. In the historical homeland of the brand, more than 370 thousand cars have already been sold, of which over 100 thousand are electric cars.
Previously, two Jeland crossovers were certified in Russia.
