More than a billion rubles will be spent on the production of road signs in Moscow

As Kommersant reports, the capital’s mayor’s office wants to conclude a 10-year contract for the production of road signs for city streets. Investments in the project will amount to more than 1 billion rubles. For this, the Moscow authorities will receive 1.5 million road signs, plates, fasteners and other components over 10 years.

Financing will be carried out according to the offset contract scheme: the contractor will organize production with allocated funds in exchange for guaranteed orders – to provide Moscow with road signs for at least 10 years. The city authorities believe that local production will ensure “high quality and durability.”

While there is no local production in Moscow, the authorities purchase signs at auction, and these are one-time deliveries. For example, in 2019, the Traffic Organization Center (TCOC) held a tender for 225.8 million rubles, and the winner, Vector LLC, supplied more than 27 thousand road signs within two months. In 2022, contracts for the supply of “individual design” road signs were concluded with the North Caucasus Metal Structures Plant (Krasnodar Territory) and the Stroy Invest Project company. The amount is 358 and 432 million rubles, respectively.

As of the end of 2024, 900 thousand road signs were installed in Moscow, and with the development of infrastructure, their number will grow. In particular, signs will be needed for new roads that will be put into operation in the next 10 years, as well as for New Moscow (TiNAO).
