The fact that the Russian automaker is exploring the possibility of producing cars with hybrid power plants was stated in an interview with TASS by the general director of MAZ Moskvich, Elena Frolova.
“In our strategy, we consider the use of cars, including hybrid technologies. We are not yet ready to determine specific models, but we understand that such technology would be in demand,” she said.
Previously, the plant had already studied the possibility of producing a hybrid crossover based on the Moskvich-5 model. However, in early March this project was suspended.
Currently, the company is focused on the production of the Moskvich-3, Moskvich-3e, Moskvich-6 and Moskvich-8 models, as well as on the development of the new M line.
