Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that Russia was going to transfer 50 Moskvich cars to Cuba to launch a local taxi service. According to him, the Russian and Cuban sides have already begun the study of this and other joint projects, Sobyanin wrote in his Telegram channel. No terms for the appearance of Muscovites in Cuba are still disclosed.

“We began the study of joint projects with the Republic of Cuba, including the launch of a taxi based on Moskvich cars,” the mayor wrote. In addition to replenishing local taxi parks, Russia is interested in the contract assembly of cars and the construction of charging stations for electric cars.

The fact that a party of 50 test “Muscovites” will go to the island of Freedom became known at the end of last year. Then it was reported that the cars would enter the Taxis Cuba company.

Last week, at a meeting of the Russian-Kubinski commission in Havana, this plan was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Cherneshenko.
