The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a recall of 550 thousand vehicles by Toyota. The reason for the service campaign was a defect in the seat back mechanism, which may not be fixed, which increases the risk of injury.
The service campaign applies to Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles from 2021 to 2024. The reason is that the backrests of the second row seats may not lock when adjusted. According to NHTSA, authorized dealers will provide free replacement of recoil springs in reclining mechanisms.
