The telegram channel “Russian car” shared a picture of the renamed Jaecoo J7 in the parking lot of the AGR plant near St. Petersburg. According to unofficial data, Jeland nameplate will receive Jaecoo J7 and Jaecoo J8, collected at the former General Motors plant in Shushara. Other models from the Chery orbit are also renamed: Tiggo 4/Tiggo 7 crossovers will be called Tenet, Omoda C5 are ready to sell under the Onives brand.
The appearance of the Jland brand in Russia became known in March from certification documents. Differences from the Jaecoo J7 and Jaecoo J8 are not expected, and renaming may be associated with sanctional risks of Chery. At the same time, the transition to the Russian assembly will entail the expansion of the gamut: the “seven” will add a version with a 1.5 turbo engine.
