Rally-Rada: again sands and steppes

The Russian rally championship is in full swing. More recently, athletes were chasing in the Astrakhan region, and already this week-from May 15 to 18-Bach Archeda will be held in the Archedinsk-Don array of the Volgograd region.

The stage of the Russian Championship is gaining momentum, and the struggle in the tests is increasing. Before the Astrakhan race “Gold of Kagan” had time to fade, and sands and steppes are already waiting for the participants again, but already in the Volgograd region.

Archeda is the third stage of the Russian Championship in the offices of absolute, standard T2 SUVs, T3 motorized vehicles and raid sport, as well as the second stage for T5 trucks. In addition, in the framework of the competition the Championship of the Volgograd region for rally-raids will be held. 25 crews from 16 cities of Russia and Belarus will take part in the race.

After a very difficult stage in Astrakhan and long May holidays, there was very little time to prepare for competitions.

The pilot and head of the cargo department of the GAZ Ray Sport Mikhail Shklyaev team have been chasing Archeda more than once, so this stage of the Russian Championship is well represented:

– There is an interesting configuration of the track in Arched. Circles are short, loops in almost one place. It is convenient for both pilots and mechanics. We will try to be more accurate, the whole championship is ahead and we need to protect the equipment. But it is important to show yourself and score points. The past Astrakhan race was heavy – for both crews and equipment. In Astrakhan there are many steppe roads with ruts, bumps, ravines and pits. In Arched, part of the highway is forest roads, part are steppe. The sands are more even here, but in general, the architect race is more speedy and therefore you can’t call it simple – the price of the error is very high.

In the racing menu of Archeda – three days of competition, five special stages and over 615 racing kilometers. As usual, on May 15, official tests are held, and then on May 16 in the territory of the Sports Camp in the Frolovsky district in the headquarters of the participants’ race, administrative inspections and technical inspections are waiting.

At 16:20, the solemn opening of the competition will be held, after which the crews will pass the first special -stalk with a sufficiently solid for prologue with a length of 24 kilometers. On Saturday and Sunday, the participants are waiting for two special stages of 105 and 190 kilometers. The organizers worked on glory-they prescribed a full-fledged highway in the insidious Armedinsko-Don sands near Frolovo. As regular participants know, this race will be difficult.

– Archeda highway is not only long straight, but also complex steering sections, sands and soft paths. They require attention, although in general it is simpler Astrakhan, ”said Vyacheslav Subbotin, sports director of the GAZ Raid Sports, since the engines will operate at high speeds and at high temperatures, we made appropriate software settings and control of the diesel engine power system. The shock absorbers became tougher, made changes to the settings of adjustable stabilizers of transverse rolls, everything is focused on traffic at high speeds.
