Testing of a MAZ tractor running on liquefied gas began in Vladivostok

Liquefied gas is natural or petroleum gas converted into a liquid state for ease of transportation and storage, since its volume is reduced by up to 600 times. In this case, the methane is cooled to -163°C. For now, equipment that consumes such fuel is a rare option.

In the Far East, the MAZ-54A02N tractor running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) is being tested for the first time. The trial operation is carried out by Gazprom Heliy Service: as part of the tests, the vehicle is used on logistics routes from Vladivostok to the Amur region.

The total volume of cryogenic tanks is 930 liters. The gas-powered tractor covered the route from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok under its own power, and routine maintenance was carried out in Vladivostok with a mileage of 9 thousand km.
