The Russian Automobile telegram channel claims that the Federal Security Service is not satisfied with the range of the newest Merlon. The rated power reserve is 200 kilometers, but in real operating conditions this was not enough. According to insiders, they intend to convert the Aurus electric bike into a conventional internal combustion engine, which will require a different layout.
According to preliminary data, Aurus Merlon will be equipped with a Russian three-cylinder Gimura 1000s engine. Initially, the unit was developed for light off-road vehicles, and now the engines are produced in a small series. The sixty-kilogram liter unit produces 105 horsepower and 102 Nm of torque, and a boost may be required for a heavy escort motorcycle.

Now the Aurus Merlon electric bike weighs 350 kilograms and is equipped with a 190-horsepower (350 Nm) engine. However, the recoil was selected taking into account the three-wheeled version with a sidecar and an additional battery. In May last year, NAMI confirmed the transfer of a batch of 11 motorcycles to the Federal Security Service; they took part in the inauguration ceremony of the Russian President.
It was planned to launch mass production of the Aurus Merlon in 2025; a year and a half ago, the price guideline was 10-12 million rubles for a bike without a sidecar. If motorcycles decide to switch to a gasoline engine, the launch of mass production may be delayed.
