The acting chairman of the city committee on industrial policy, innovation and trade, Alexander Sitov, in an interview with RBC, said that Russian luxury cars would not necessarily produce on the site in Shushars. The official of the administration of St. Petersburg emphasized that there were “different visions of the project”, and there is no information about the dates of the plant restart yet.

Inciders reported the refusal of the Chinese partner from the production of Aurus in St. Petersburg at the end of last year. However, then representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia insisted that plans to launch serial production of cars remain relevant, and the future of the site was still associated with Aurus. Now the fate of the plant is not obvious: perhaps it will be Aurus, perhaps something else.

Kim Jong-un exchanged Russian Aurus for the new Mercedes-Maybach, State Duma deputies were worried about expanded insurance after an accident with Aurus, another head of a foreign state quietly moved to Aurus Senat

Nevertheless, Alexander Sitov did not agree with the decline of the car cluster in St. Petersburg. The official said that the authorities see the “rapid growth of automobile production” and promised that in the period from one to three years the plants would return to peak capacities. The acting chairman of the city committee on industrial policy, innovation and trade noted that car components were “defrosted” and are in the process of transformation for new lineups.

Now in the cluster near St. Petersburg they are assembled by Solaris (formerly Hyundai), and at the former General Motors factory they intend to produce the crossovers of Jeland (Cheri). However, at the “Saint Petersburg Automobile Plant” (former Nissan), the production of XCite cars was completed, and the E-NEVA electric vehicle project is frozen for the former Toyota plant.
