According to experts from Avto.ru Business, published on April 3 in Izvestia, the average cost of a new car of domestic brands in March 2026 reached 2.04 million rubles.

“The average price of a new car of Russian brands in March 2026 was 2.04 million rubles, which is 28% more compared to the same month last year. The average price of a car of Chinese brands in early spring reached 3.95 million rubles, an increase of almost 6% over the year,” Izvestia reports.

Experts attribute the noticeable jump in Russian cars to an increase in the share of new domestic manufacturers, whose model range is mainly in the segment of 2 million rubles.

At the same time, in March, price dynamics in the country as a whole turned out to be minimal since the beginning of the year. An increase in the average cost of new cars over the past month was recorded only in five regions. Among them are the Bryansk region, where the increase was 8% to 3.8 million rubles, the Rostov region with an increase of 6% to 2.48 million rubles, the Kaluga region with an increase of 5% to 2.34 million rubles, and the Stavropol Territory with an increase of 3.5% to 1.8 million rubles.

The leaders in the decrease in average cost were the Republic of Bashkortostan, where prices fell by 15.5% to 2.3 million rubles, the Perm Territory with a drop of 12.4% to 2.12 million rubles, and the Voronezh region with a decrease of 6.6% to 2.7 million rubles.

Moscow retains its status as the most expensive market: the average price of a new car in the capital in March reached 3.9 million rubles. This is 3% higher than the February level, but 2% lower than a year ago. In St. Petersburg, the price was fixed at 3.19 million rubles – only 40 thousand rubles more than in March 2025.

Interestingly, some models officially presented in Russia saw their average prices decrease in March. The top five of such cars included Zeekr 9X with a decrease of 2% to 12.82 million rubles, Omoda C7, also minus 2% to 3.27 million rubles, Chery Tiggo 7L with a decrease of 2% to 2.87 million rubles, Jaecoo J8 with a decrease of 1.7% to 4.8 million rubles and Omoda C5 with a decrease of 1% to 2.82 million rubles.
