The General Director of the famous brand Mate Rimatz expressed bewilderment why competitors combine a hybrid system with a turbo engine. According to the head of Bugatti, the turbo rate is a compromise on its own. On the Tourbillon project, the transition to the “atmospheric” V16 cost 600 horsepower (compared to turbo W16), but electric motors compensated the difference.

Almost all manufacturers of supercars are forced to combine turbo engines with hybrid systems in order to meet economies. Mate Rimatz said that he drove all the hybrid supercars, but did not understand the approach. Therefore, Tourbillon is created according to another recipe and can satisfy different drivers: there are always many power under the pedal, either from atmospheric gasoline ICE (1000 hp), or from electric motor (800 hp).

Mate Rimatz promised that the new hypercar should be easier than Chiron, that is, the model will be the first hybrid that is easier than an analogue with ICE. And this despite the battery with a capacity of 25 kilowatt hours. It was possible to save the mass due to technology: for example, the suspension “lost” by 45% due to additive printing. Chiron borrowed only one detail: the ceiling backlight button.

Mate Rimatz did not rule out that after release 250 Tourbillon coupes, the company will be engaged in a relatives. The platform allows you to release an rear -wheel drive hypercar, a version without a hybrid or with a minimum electrical component. However, the Bugatti boss admitted that it would be quite difficult to completely abandon electric motors, such a project will require a radial revision of the entire system. But the clients do not need to worry about reliability: Rimats promised to make Tourbillon a trouble -free and suitable for prolonged use.
