Autocar magazine claims: Ineos company founder of the chemical giant Jim Ratcliffe is negotiating with the Chinese side. The manufacturer of SUVs is interested in the Chery ICAR platform, because unification will quickly release the “younger” model of Fusilier and reduce the average level of carbon dioxide emissions. Now in the Ineos portfolio only the fuel Grenadier.

The irony of fate is that Ineos SUVs were conceived as an alternative to the classic Land Rover Defender, but now both British stamps are ready to switch to Chery platforms. Jim Ratcliffe with ICAR has not yet agreed, but the name Freelander will already transfer to the orbit of Chinese partners.

Now Ineos avoids fines for excessive CO2 emissions, selling some Grenadier in the form of commercial transport. But the launch of the Fusilier electrician is still necessary as soon as possible. The British automaker is interested in the V27 platform with electric drives and a 1.5-liter engine in the form of a generator. The representative of INEOS did not comment on the situation.

It is interesting that just a month ago, the new ICAR boss asked subscribers in social networks if they agree that the V27 “this is Land Cruiser on New Energy” or “National Chinese G-Class”. Thus, Chery is ideologically aimed at the same audience as Jim Ratcliffe. Whether the parties will be able to agree, time will tell. The partnership with INEOS can help Chery bypass anti -Chinese duties in Europe, because the British company has a plant in France.
