The automobile plant of the AGR holding in Shushary painted the first car body of the new Russian brand Jeland. The painting shop, as the holding’s press service notes, was created almost from scratch. As part of the work, industrial floors were strengthened, technological lines were updated and new systems were introduced.
On the surface preparation line, the length of the baths was increased, full immersion of the body was implemented at the phosphating stage, and new filtration, dosing and cleaning systems were installed.
The cataphoresis electrodeposition line was also modernized, and the technology of coating without intermediate drying of the base coat was introduced in the paint production.
Full automation of the painting process was achieved through the installation of 34 industrial robots. Additionally, robotic systems for applying sealant and protective compounds have been introduced.
Earlier, the first Jeland car body was welded at the former GM plant in St. Petersburg. The enterprise in the Shushary industrial zone now belongs to the Russian holding company AGR.
It is important that many workshops (including welding and painting) at the plant, which previously produced Chevrolet and Opel, and then were mothballed for many years, were actually created anew, AGR assures.
