At the final press conference for 2024, Maxim Sokolov told reporters that the plant is ready to produce 600-650 thousand cars if the corresponding task is set. The head of AvtoVAZ admitted that the indicated values ​​​​can be achieved during assembly in two shifts. After modernizing production in January, the capacity and productivity of conveyors in Tolyatti were increased.

There is a request from the state to increase production capacity: at last year’s meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov said that within six years AvtoVAZ will increase annual production volumes to 700 thousand units. The official added that market conditions may require more Lada cars.

The design capacity of AvtoVAZ conveyors significantly exceeds current production indicators. For example, as of 2012, Lada factories in Tolyatti could produce up to 900 thousand cars. The capacity of the Lada Izhevsk plant is 230 thousand cars. Another 50 thousand cars can theoretically be assembled in Argun at the Chechenavto plant. However, the head of the auto giant, Maxim Sokolov, made it clear that production “for storage” is inappropriate, and since the end of last year the market began to degrade.

AvtoVAZ’s forecasts for 2025 are cautious: the production plan provides for the production of 500 thousand cars. And although the geography of export sales of Lada cars is expanding, the main market remains the domestic one. Last year, 87% of the total volume of cars produced by AvtoVAZ were sold in Russia.
